Recap: Sea Dogs win 4-2

FINAL: Halifax 2, Saint John 4
Michael Hawkins/Saint John Sea Dogs
SAINT JOHN - The losing streak is over.

Tyler Peddle scored a pair of goals to lead the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 4-2 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Thursday at TD Station, ending an 11-game losing streak. The Mooseheads, meanwhile, have now lost six straight.

Peddle opened the scoring – his first goal since Saint John's last win a month ago – and netted the game-winner, beating Mooseheads netminder Nicolas Gillham-Cirka on a breakaway at 3:26 of the third period.

Dylan Rozzi and Olivier Groulx also scored. Goaltender Eric Young earned his first QMJHL win, making 24 saves.

Unsurprisingly, offense was hard to come by at times for both teams in this game. The two squads are near the bottom of the league's offensive categories. Shots ended 26-22 in favour of Halifax with 10 of those Mooseheads shots coming in the third period.

The Sea Dogs bent at times but never broke. Saint John never trailed in this game but did allow the Mooseheads to tie the game twice and survived some sustained offensive zone pressure by the Moose in the third period.

Antoine Fontaine and Carlos Handel scored for Halifax. Gillham-Cirka made 18 saves in the loss.

The win pushes Saint John back into a tie with the Gatineau Olympiques for the QMJHL's 16th and final playoff spot with 40 points. Gatineau has played two less games.
