Rookie Camps Coming To A Close

With the Traverse City Prospects Tournament now complete, it’s a quiet day on the National Hockey League’s rookie game schedule. Most rookie camps are coming to an end as training camps get set to open.

In Penticton, BC, the Vancouver Canucks take on the Winnipeg Jets at 3:30pm AST. It is the final game of the tournament.

The Canucks roster features defensemen Yann Sauve and Ian Saab, forward Steven Anthony and goaltender Karel St. Laurent. Only Saab played last night. St. Laurent played backup to David Honzik.

The Jets roster features Michael Kirkpatrick who, according to some Winnipeg bloggers, has played fairly well so far.

The Canucks website will have a stream of the match.

The Washington Capitals rookies will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers rookies today at 6:00pm at Wells Fargo Arena.

CSN Washington reports that Stanislav Galiev will be in the lineup for the Caps.
“I feel more energy and more stronger,” Galiev said. “I’m signed and I’m happy, but I just have to forget about that and work hard to be a pro. If you want to be in the NHL you have to improve yourself in every type of your game. I need to be stronger on the boards and in battles.”
Galiev has been taking part in Capitals rookie camp all week.

Tonight’s game – presented by Smoothie King (pictured) - will be streamed on the Flyers website.

On the west coast, the Los Angeles Kings will look to rebound after suffering a 8-7 loss to the Phoenix Coyotes last night.

If the game sheet is correct, Pierre Durepos played for the Kings last night while Danick Gauthier was not in the Coyotes lineup. Alexandre Beauregard did not make the trip to LA apparently.
