National Hockey League rookie tournaments are beginning to
wind down.
Today in Traverse City, the first, third, fifth, and seventh place games will be held. Detroit and Carolina meet this afternoon in
the seventh place game along with Minnesota and Dallas who will battle in the
fifth place contest.
St. Louis will play Columbus in the third place game
while Buffalo and the New York Rangers meet in the first place match. Both of
these contests take place this evening.
Members of the Sea Dogs who taking part in the
tournament include Zach Phillips (Minnesota), Scott Oke (Dallas), Stephen
MacAulay (St. Louis), Ryan Tesink (St. Louis), Tomas Jurco (Detroit), Mathieu
Corbeil (Columbus), and Mike Thomas (Columbus).
In Penticton at the 2011 Young Stars Tournament, the
Vancouver Canucks meet the San Jose Sharks at 8pm AST and the Calgary Flames
and Edmonton Oilers faceoff at 11:30pm.
The Canucks roster features former Karel St. Laurent,
Yann Sauve, Steven Anthony and Ian Saab.
The entire tournament is being streamed on the Canucks website.
Out West, the Los Angeles Kings host the Phoenix Coyotes
at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo tonight. The two teams also play each
other tomorrow.
Sea Dogs defenseman Pierre Durepos is taking part in Kings
rookie camp while forwards Danick Gauthier and Alexandre Beauregard have been
at Coyotes camp. According to the Coyotes website, Beauregard did not make the trip to LA.
Both games will be streamed on the Kings website.
In Florida, Jonathan Huberdeau and the Florida Panthers
play the Tampa Bay Lightning today at 1pm. It is the final rookie game of Panthers camp.
