Thursday Rookie Game Wrapup

WINNIPEG 2 – VANCOUVER 0
Michael Kirkpatrick and the Winnipeg Jets closed out the 2011 Young Stars Tournament with a 2-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday afternoon in Penticton.

Kirkpatrick was held pointless but did record two shots on net.

On the losing side, Karel St. Laurent took the loss in net despite making 33 saves. Steven Anthony had one shot on goal while Ian Saab and Yann Sauve did not play.

This was the final game of the Young Stars Tournament. The Canucks finished with a 2-2 record while the Jets went 2-1.

PHILADELPHIA 3 – WASHINGTON 2
Stanislav Galiev registered an assist in the Washington Capitals 3-2 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday evening at Wells Fargo Center.

“Less than a minute after the kill was complete, Caps winger Stan Galiev gained the Philly line with speed and linemate Garrett Ross,” describes Mike Vogel on Dump ‘n Chase. “Galiev roared down the right side, drawing defensive attention and creating slot space for Ross. Galiev fed Ross, who rifled a wrister that clanged off the right post before settling behind Phillips. Cody Eakin collected the second assist on the goal that gave the Caps a 1-0 advantage.”

According to Tim Leone, Galiev played on a line with Garrett Ross and Cody Eakin.

LOS ANGELES 4 – PHOENIX 3
Pierre Durepos picked up an assist in the Los Angeles Kings 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday afternoon in California.

Durepos assisted on the Kings first goal, a marker that was credited to Jordan Weal.

Danick Gauthier was in the Coyotes lineup but had no points or shots.
