PREVIEW
SAINT JOHN – With the world ending tomorrow or whatever, tonight could be final game in Saint John Sea Dogs history. The Sea Dogs host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan this evening at 7pm at Harbour Station.

The Sea Dogs enter action tonight with 16-17-0-0 record for 32 points. They sit fourth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 13th overall in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. They are 5-5-0-0 in their last 10 games and are coming off a road loss in PEI on Sunday.

Saint John will once again be without their best player. Even though he won’t be playing, tonight’s game is important for Jonathan Huberdeau as his four-game suspension will come to an end. Huberdeau was unable to play in today’s world junior pre-competition game due to the suspension.

With Huberdeau absent, Ryan Tesink leads Saint John in scoring with 38 points. Defenseman Kevin Gagne is second with 33.

It’s been a disappointing season for the Titan. They enter play today with a 12-19-4-1 record for 29 points. They sit fifth in the Telus Maritimes Division and 14th overall in the league. The Titan are three points back of Saint John but have played three more games.

As the trade period approaches, the Titan have lost three straight and are 3-6-0-1 in their last 10 games.

Zach O’Brien leads Bathurst in scoring with 47 points in 34 games. The newly acquired Michael Beaudry is second on the squad in points with 46. The Titan traded Brandon Hynes and some draft picks to Val-d’Or in exchange for Beaudry last week.

The first half of the Sea Dogs season officially ends with tonight’s game. It unofficially ends with tomorrow night’s game against the Halifax Mooseheads, Saint John’s final game before the Christmas break.
