Game Day 24: at Drummondville

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC
- The Saint John Sea Dogs' road trip continues tonight.

After falling 6-2 in Shawinigan on Friday, the Sea Dogs travel to Drummondville to face the Voltigeurs this evening at 8 p.m. Atlantic. Saint John enters the game on a three-game losing streak.

One area of focus for the Sea Dogs will no doubt be limiting penalties. Saint John gave Shawinigan 10 power play opportunities last night, allowing three goals.

This will be the second and final meeting of the season between the Sea Dogs and Voltigeurs. Saint John earned a 4-1 win over Drummondville last month at TD Station.

2022-23 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 6-16-0-1 for 13 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/18th QMJHL) while the Voltigeurs are 14-12-0-0 for 28 points (third Central/sixth Western/ninth QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-2 loss in Shawinigan last night. Peter Reynolds and Brady Burns scored Saint John goals. Nikolas Hurtubise made 19 stops in the loss. The Voltigeurs are coming off a 6-2 win in Boisbriand last night. Jeremy Lapointe, Mikael Diotte, Luke Woodworth, Lukas Landry, Sam Oliver and Loic Goyette scored for the Volts. Kevyn Brassard made 26 saves in the win. 

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 1-0-0-0 against the Voltigeurs this season while Drummondville is 0-1-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Nov. 12 at TD Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Voltigeurs 4-1. Nico Laforge, Cam MacDonald, Nicolas Bilodeau and Nicholas Blagden scored for Saint John. Tyler Peddle scored Drummondville's lone goal. Nikolas Hurtubise made 34 saves in the win. Jacob Goobie made 16 saves in the loss.

Voltigeurs to watch: Jeremy Lapointe extended his point streak to seven games last night. He's collected six goals and four assists during the stretch.

Random stat: The Voltigeurs have struggled against Maritimes Division clubs, going 2-5-0-0 so far.

Notes: Brady Burns leads Saint John in points with 22 and goals with 13... Nate Tivey has a team high 13 assists... Luke Woodworth leads the Voltigeurs in points with 25... Jeremy Lapointe leads Drummondville in goals with 15... Woodworth and Charles-Antoine Dumont lead the club in assists with 18... the Volts are 7-5-0-0 at home... the Sea Dogs are 2-9-0-1 on the road... after allowing three power play goals on 10 chances last night, Saint John's penalty kill has dropped to a league low 73%. Drummondville's penalty kill is only slightly better at 73.2%.
