HALIFAX
- Josh Lawrence is off to a strong start with his new club.

The former Saint John Sea Dogs forward has a goal and three assists in three games with the Halifax Mooseheads. The 20-year-old posted three assists in his debut and scored his first goal Saturday.

Lawrence, who the Mooseheads acquired in a deal with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada last week, now has 16 goals and 20 assists in 28 games.

Halifax currently leads the league in goals per game with an average of 4.26.

Lawrence will make his home debut on Thursday against none other than the Armada.

HOMESTAND COMING UP
After a three-in-three in Quebec last weekend, the Sea Dogs have a whole lot of home games coming up.

The Sea Dogs will play 10 of their next 12 games on TD Station ice. Between now and Jan. 8, the team plays just two games on the road - Dec. 14 in Cape Breton and Dec. 30 in Bathurst.

Things start on Wednesday with the Sea Dogs hosting the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. They then host the Moncton Wildcats on Friday night and Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday afternoon.

Saint John is 4-7-0-0 on home ice this season.

THE DRAFT IS BACK
The QMJHL is expected to announce Wednesday that it will hold an in-person Entry Draft in June.
The league will hold a press conference in Sherbrooke on Wednesday announcing the event.

The annual QMJHL Entry Draft has been held virtually since 2020. Prior to COVID, the draft had always been done "mini NHL Draft style," held in a QMJHL arena. Sherbrooke has hosted the event a number of times over the past decade.

GARDINER TO COACH U SPORTS TEAM
Sea Dogs coaching legend Gardiner MacDougall has been named the head coach for the U Sports all-star team that will face Canada's world junior squad on Sunday and Monday.
The U Sports roster is made entirely of players from Atlantic University Sport. It's the first time an AUS all-star team will compete against Canada's world junior squad since the last time the tournament came to the Maritimes. The AUS all-stars lost 5-2 and 3-2, respectively, to Canada way back in 2002.

No former Sea Dogs players will represent U Sports but there will be quite a few former QMJHL players suiting up.

The games take place Sunday at 2 p.m. and Monday at noon, both at Moncton's Avenir Centre.

ELIAS COMMITS
19-year-old defenseman William Elias, a 13th-round pick of Saint John in the 2019 QMJHL Entry Draft, has committed to Holy Cross of the NCAA for the 2023-24 season.
The Weston, Massachusetts native has three goals and 10 assists in 22 games with the BCHL's Cowichan Valley Capitals this season.

QPLEX GAME SOLD OUT
The Finland/United States world junior pre-tournament game set to be held at the Quispamsis qplex on Dec. 19 sold out within a few hours of tickets going on sale.
