Game Day 33: at Bathurst

BATHURST - The Saint John Sea Dogs are back on the road tonight, visiting the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

The Sea Dogs opened their second half schedule with a 4-3 shootout win over the Charlottetown Islanders on Wednesday at TD Station. The Sea Dogs let a late 3-1 lead slip away but managed to secure the win in a shootout.

The Titan had a rough welcome back from the holiday break, falling 6-1 to the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday. Riley Kidney and Jacob Melanson, who are wanted players this trade season, both played in that game.

Game time tonight at the KC Irving Regional Centre is 7 p.m.

2022-23 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 12-18-1-1 for 26 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/18th QMJHL) while the Titan are 13-16-3-2 for 31 points (third Maritimes/sixth Eastern/13th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the Charlottetown Islanders on Wednesday. Noah Reinhart, Vince Elie and Peter Reynolds scored for Saint John. Ventsislav Shingarov made 35 saves in the win. The Titan are coming off a 6-1 home loss to the Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday. Nolan Forster scored Bathurst's lone goal. Joshua Flemming made 33 saves in the loss.

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-1-1-0 against the Titan this season while Bathurst is 1-2-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Dec. 11 at TD Station where the Titan defeated the Sea Dogs 7-4. Ben Allison scored four goals for Bathurst while singles came from Noah Ryan, Jacob Melanson and Dylan Andrews. Pavel Simek scored a pair of goals for Saint John while Connor Trenholm and Jared Cosman added singles. Sergei Litvinov made 33 saves in the win. Ventsislav Shingarov made 40 stops in the loss.

Titan to watch: Ben Allison has five goals in three games against the Sea Dogs this season.

Random stat: The Sea Dogs are averaging 4.65 goals against per game (18th in the QMJHL) while the Titan are averaging 4.08 (17th).

Cam MacDonald and Nikolas Hurtubise, who were both healthy scratches on Wednesday, are unlikely to play tonight as well.
