Game Day 28: vs Titan

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to stay perfect against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan this afternoon at TD Station.

The Sea Dogs are 2-0-0-0 against Gordie Dwyer's Titan squad this season. Today's 3 p.m. contest will be the first meeting between the two provincial rivals since Oct. 28.

Saint John had a three-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night, falling 8-5 to the Moncton Wildcats. The Sea Dogs were without their top defensive pairing - Charlie DesRoches and Nate Tivey - in that game. Tivey should return from a suspension today.

2022-23 regular season records: The Sea Dogs are 9-17-0-1 for 19 points (sixth Maritimes/10th Eastern/18th QMJHL) while the Titan are 11-14-3-2 for 27 points (third Maritimes/seventh Eastern/14th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off an 8-5 home loss to the Moncton Wildcats on Friday. Brady Burns, Danny Akkouche, Cam MacDonald, Eriks Mateiko and Alexis Cournoyer scored for Saint John. Nikolas Hurtubise was pulled after allowing three goals on 10 shots in the first period. Ventsislav Shingarov allowed four goals on 25 shots in relief. The Titan are coming off a 5-2 home win over the Charlottetown Islanders on Friday. Jacob Melanson scored twice for Bathurst while singles came from Ty Higgins, Dylan Andrews and Ben Allison. Joshua Fleming made 26 saves in the win.

2022-23 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-0-0-0 against the Titan this season while Bathurst is 2-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Oct. 28 at TD Station where the Sea Dogs defeated the Titan 6-1. Nico Laforge, Cam MacDonald, Vince Elie, Eriks Mateiko, Brady Burns and Connor Trenholm scored for Saint John. Philippe Collette scored for Bathurst. Ventsislav Shingarov made 33 saves in the win. Sergei Litvinov and Jack Howatt took the loss in net.

Titan to watch: Seattle Kraken prospect Jacob Melanson sits eighth in QMJHL goal scoring with 20.

Random stat: The Titan are just 2-11-0-1 on the road this season. The Titan and Baie-Comeau Drakkar are tied for the fewest road wins in the QMJHL.
