Switzerland will play three pre-tournament games in Canada before the start of the tournament, facing Canada, Sweden and Czechia.
Despont appeared in five games with Switzerland at last year's event, posting an assist.
LAWRENCE DEBUTS
Former Sea Dogs forward Josh Lawrence made a strong first impression with his new club on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old forward recorded three assists in the Halifax Mooseheads' 5-3 victory over the Rimouski Oceanic. He was named first star.
Lawrence was traded to the Mooseheads by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Monday. He made his debut on a line with Attilio Biasca and Stephane Jr Huard.
The Mooseheads continue their road trip on Friday in Chicoutimi and Saturday in Baie-Comeau. Lawrence will make his home debut next Thursday against his former team, the Armada.

Tivey continued his impressive season last week, posting five assists and a +3 rating in three matches. He now has 13 assists in 22 games. The 18-year-old leads all rookie defensemen in points.
GARDINER SPEAKS
Former Sea Dogs head coach Gardiner MacDougall was honoured before Sunday's Sea Dogs home game. Prior to the match, the Sea Dogs posted a video interview with MacDougall on YouTube and shared a story about the coach on their website.
PPG AGAINST
In Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Val-d'Or Foreurs, the Sea Dogs allowed three power play goals against. It's the second time this season that Saint John allowed three man advantage goals against in a single game.
What's the franchise record for most power play goals against in a single game? Three ain't close.
Saint John allowed eight (!) power play goals against on 15 (!) chances on Dec. 17, 2006 against the Moncton Wildcats.
OTHER THINGS
- Wild to see that the Victoriaville Tigres have cracked the CHL Top 10.
- According to HockeyFights.com, the Sea Dogs, Moncton Wildcats and Quebec Remparts are the only teams in the QMJHL that have not registered a fighting major this season.
- Craig Eagles shares his thoughts on what we may see in the Maritimes Division during the holiday trade period.
- There have been some notable trades in the Maritime Hockey League of late, including Campbellton trading Cole Foston to Valley; Edmundston trading Zach Welsh to South Shore; and South Shore dealing Kobe Burt to Grand Falls.
- Took in last night's big WHL showdown between the Memorial Cup host Kamloops Blazers and the Connor Bedard led Regina Pats. After a tight first period, the Blazers scored seven goals in the second and won 9-3. Bedard had two goals and an assist in the loss but was overshadowed by Logan Stankoven, who had a goal and three helpers in the victory.
- The concourse at the Sandman Centre is a little smaller than TD Station's, so have fun with that at the Memorial Cup, Kamloops.
