SAINT JOHN
- The Saint John Sea Dogs survived a wild final few minutes to defeat the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 2-1 on Wednesday night at TD Station.

The Armada spent most of the final few minutes of the third period on the power play after Nate Tivey was given a match penalty for high sticking at 15:06. Saint John's penalty kill has struggled all season but had perhaps its best performance in the final couple minutes, not allowing the league's seventh best power play to tie the game. The Sea Dogs did all this without their top defense pairing - Tivey was tossed from the game and Charlie DesRoches was injured in the first period.

Nikolas Hurtubise, who was excellent in Saint John's overtime victory over the Armada on Sunday, made 33 stops in the victory. Vincent Despont and Connor Trenholm scored for Saint John.

The victory is Saint John's third straight. It's the team's longest winning streak of the season.

Jonathan Fauchon, who also scored on Sunday, had the Armada's lone goal. Nicholas Sheehan made 25 stops in the loss.

SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without goaltender Olivier Brideau (healthy); defensemen Jake Tracey (healthy) and Jeremie Richard (injury); and forwards Peter Reynolds (injury) and Sam-Luca Thifault (injury).

FAUCHON: Jonathan Fauchon seems to like playing against Saint John. He scored in the first period on Wednesday to follow up his goal on Sunday.
INJURY: Sea Dogs captain Charlie DesRoches suffered an apparent leg injury in first period. He came out for a shift a few minutes later but was in obvious discomfort. He did not return.

RARE GOAL: Here's something you don't see every day: defensemen Jared Cosman and Vincent Despont teaming up on a two-on-one to score Saint John's first goal. Defenseman Nicolas Bilodeau picked up the second assist. Ever seen three defensemen earn points on a single goal?
ANOTHER MATCH: Defenseman Vincent Despont was suspended for Sunday's game after receiving a match penalty for a check-to-the-head on Saturday. It appears defenseman Nate Tivey will be suspended for Friday's game after getting a match penalty for high sticking in this contest. It's not good news with Charlie DesRoches' injury status unknown.

NOTES: Nico Laforge played in his first game since Nov. 26...  Connor Trenholm's goal was his first since Oct. 30. He had a couple other good scoring chances in this game... the Armada went 0/6 on the power play while Saint John went 0/1... Brady Burns had six shots... Cam MacDonald had six hits... attendance was 3,105, the second largest crowd at TD Station this season.

HIGHLIGHTS

NEXT GAME: The Sea Dogs host the Moncton Wildcats on Friday night at 7 p.m.
