GAME THREE GOES SUNDAY AT THE CAGE

The last time we saw Wild Willie, he was slamming doors as he stormed out of Harbour Station after losing in the first mascot race. This all according to reports out of the Times & Transcript – seriously, there actually was an article.

In that same article, it was reported that the Wildcats were disputing the contest but to no avail as the Sea Dogs picked up an extra point. Saint John leads the second annual Brunswick News Rivalry Cup 5.5 – 2 in two games that were both played in Saint John.

The Wildcats did have a argument over the race however, as Fleaburn didn’t run around the back of the net as the rules stated. It was still close though with Wild Willie much quicker on his paws than the slightly overweight Fleaburn.

The Sea Dogs mascot used his Facebook page to unleash the opening blow of Sunday’s second mascot race at the Moncton Coliseum.

“We need all the fans we can to cheer the team on (and) beat Moncton,” he said. “I will take care of Wee Willie...here kitty kitty kitty.”

Wild Willie has yet to respond to the comments. As always, the Wildcats will be putting on a promotional showcase for its game of Sunday at the Moncton Coliseum. (News 88.9 FM, 3:55 pm)

As an early Christmas gift, Mortgage Maker Inc. through the Military Resource Centre is providing tickets for members of the military and their families.

Members of the Moncton firefighters team who recently won the World Combat Challenge will also attend this game. There will also be an opportunity for one fan to shoot for a $50,000 prize.

Following the game, season ticket holders and members of the Kiddy Kats Club will get a chance to skate with the Wildcats.

Saint John is 2-0-0-0 against the Wildcats this season. They won 4-3 in a shootout on September 27 and 3-2 in overtime on October 17. The October 17 game was the first of Saint John’s 20 straight wins with Mike Hoffman unleashing a shot from just inside the blue line to beat the Cats. The Dogs also pick up half a point with a crowd of 4,720 at Harbour Station.

To see the full rules and details on the challenge, see the sidebar of this webpage. Station Nation will have coverage of the challenge all week long.
