SEA DOGS ON SPORTSNET

The Canadian Hockey League in association with Rogers Sportsnet and RDS announced on Tuesday the 2009-10 schedule of national and regional CHL regular season games that will be broadcast live on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS this season.

For the third time in their history, the Sea Dogs will be featured on Rogers Sportsnet's CHL game of the week. The March 14 game in Moncton will be broadcasted coast-to-coast beginning at 8:00 pm AST. That will be the final game of the regular season for both teams and the last game of the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup.

Saint John has been featured twice on Rogers Sportsnet. They were both road games with one in Drummondville and the other in Halifax. They are 2-0-0-0 all-time.

The only negative to the selection is the fact that it is the last game of the regular season. Teams traditionally don’t play their star players and thus create zero chances for injuries before the playoffs begin. The likes of Mike Hoffman, Nicholas Petersen, Brandon Gormley and Marc Barberio may not see the ice.

The game is one of only two QMJHL games featured on the schedule this season. In addition to regular season game coverage, Rogers Sportsnet will also broadcast four playoff games along with all CHL national events. All six games of the 2009 Subway Super Series were broadcast nationally by Rogers Sportsnet with the two QMJHL games shown on RDS in November. National event coverage continues on Rogers Sportsnet and RDS with the 2010 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Wednesday January 20, 2010 in Windsor, ON, and highlighted by the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup in Brandon, MB, from May 14-23, 2010.
