SCRATCHES
Saint John scratched Gabriel Bourret and Olivier Ouellet of course. Bourret was not a healthy scratch as Tim Roszell said he was a bit under the weather after scoring on Saturday night in Bathurst.

FREE STUFF!
The Wildcats had a number of promotions on Sunday with this being a Rivalry Cup game. Moncton scored four goals by 12:46 of the second period meaning hot dogs at the Coliseum were $1.00. At 15:54 of the middle frame they had their fifth, meaning “Wildtown t-shirts” were 50% off at the Roar Store.

No those are some real promotions!

WHITE IS THE COLOUR
Former Sea Dog beat reporter for the Telegraph-Journal, Nathan White, did the colour commentary on News 88.9 Sunday. He did a good job and sounded a bit like Jeff Lansing except he knew what he was talking about.

THEY WERE BEAT
The Sea Dogs were absolutely gassed on Sunday. Playing their third game in three dyas did a number on the team. Head coach Gerard Gallant said before the game that he didn’t think it would be an issue – but he was wrong.

"I think fatigue was a huge factor," Gallant said. "That wasn't our team out there today. But we're not going to make any excuses. Moncton played a competitive game and we talked to our guys before the game that it would be a playoff atmosphere. We had a lot of breakdowns and breakdowns happen when you're tired.”

"We recognize it was Saint John's third game in three days and we know what that's like,” said Wildcats head coach Danny Flynn. “We tried to get on them early and hem them in their zone. Obviously, our special teams were a big part of this win.”

Flynn and the Wildcats do indeed know what it’s like. Saint John’s first victory of 22 straight came against the Wildcats on the tail end of a three-in-three.

WELCOME TO THE CAMERON SHOW
Who knew Randy Cameron could do stuff like this. He scored two goals and added three assists on Sunday. The five point night was the best in his career.

DIRTY STUFF
The Wildcats-Sea Dogs rivalry hit the next level on Sunday. Reports on message boards say that there were some verbal conflicts during and after the game. No fights broke out.

According to our Moncton Wildcats reporter Jonathan Copeland, Mike Thomas’ interference penalty could have been worse as he got the arm up on David Savard. Thomas almost destroyed himself earlier in the game as he missed a check along the backboards. Copeland also said Nicholas Pard was involved in some stuff after the whistle yet again.

RIVALRY CUP STANDINGS
Moncton picks up the two points for the win and another half point for their attendance being over 70%. Saint John now leads the challenge 5.5 to 4.5 in three games.

"We had about 500 military members and their families and the Moncton firefighters team that recently won the World Combat Challenge here,” said Wildcats general manager Bill Schurman. “Maritime singer Naomi Striemer provided intermission entertainment and one fan got to shoot for a $50,000 prize. It was exciting."

The next game will likely be a sell-out. It goes on New Years Eve at the Moncton Coliseum at 7:00 pm. The game will also feature the Cats’ portion of the holiday food drive.

WILDCATS TELEVISION HIGHLIGHTS

CANADIAN PRESS RECAP
All good things must come to an end.

Randy Cameron scored twice and had three assists as the Moncton Wildcats ended the Saint John Sea Dogs' 22-game win streak with a decisive 7-3 victory in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

The loss ends a historic run for the Sea Dogs, with their winning streak becoming the third longest in QMJHL history. Only the 1995-96 Hull Olympiques (24 wins) and the 1973-74 Sorel Eperviers (25 wins) have had longer spans.

Saint John was last defeated two months ago, a 4-0 loss to the P.E.I. Rocket on Oct. 13.

The Sea Dogs' roll propelled them to the top of the standings, where they now have a commanding 11 point lead over the second place Drummondville Voltigeurs (24-9-2).

Cameron and Quebec's Dmitri Kugryshev both scored five points Sunday, the best individual games in the league so far this season.

Moncton is on a streak of its own, winning its last six games.

At Moncton, N.B., Marek Hrivik scored a pair of goals and added an assist for the Wildcats (20-10-3), while Scott Brannon had two goals and Mark Barberio had a single.

Stanislav Galiev scored twice for Saint John (30-5-1), while Tomas Jurco also tallied.

OUT OF TOWN
Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was: P.E.I. 7 Acadie-Bathurst 2; Cape Breton 3 Lewiston 1; Gatineau 8 Montreal 6; and Quebec 7 Baie-Comeau 4.

QUICK HITS
Although the mascot race was cancelled, Fleaburn was at the game... Saint Jon's last loss came two months ago to the day on Sunday. It was a 4-0 loss at Charlottetown... there was a lengthy pre-game ceremony featuring members of the Moncton Fire Department... this was Saint John's first game in Moncton this season... the two other games between these two were decided in a shootout and overtime... Moncton goaltender Shane Owen was named the QMJHL's defensive player of the week today. The backstop won all three of his starts, stopping 84 of 89 shots. He closed out the week with a 1.67 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage. Furthermore, he helped the Wildcats put a stop to Saint John’s incredible 22-game winning streak yesterday by pushing away 27 shots in a 7-3 win. Moncton is in a three-way tie for second place in the Atlantic Division standings... despite the loss, Saint John is still 11 points up on the Victoriaville Tigres for top spot in the league and 18 points up in the Atlantic division... goaltender Marc-Antoine Gelinas suffered his first loss in 15 games.
