ROCKET PULL THE TRIGGER

The most interesting part of tonight’s game? The pre-game warm-up and lineup notes.

The Victoriaville Tigres acquired Joel Champagne (90-01-24) and Chris Doyle (90-03-22) from the PEI Rocket for Jonathan Bonneau (90-07-10), Michael Ortika (93-05-24), a first, a third and a fourth round pick in 2010 and a second round pick in 2011.

The details of the trade were released early this morning by the Victoriaville newspaper la Nouvelle Union. Unless this deal was done long ago, Bonneau and Ortika will not likely be in the PEI lineup tonight at Harbour Station. (7:00 pm, News 88.9 FM)

Champagne, a Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick, leads the Rocket in scoring with 18 goals and 25 assists. In five games against Saint John this season, he has two goals and three assists. Champagne was featured as the poster boy in the Telegraph-Journal’s “Sea Dogs Game Day” today.

Doyle, a New York Rangers draft pick and PEI native, is fourth in team scoring with 15 goals and 18 assists. In five games against the Sea Dogs, he has one goal and five assists.

The Rocket were expected to make a run at the league title this season, but in typical Rocket fashion, they have struggled at times. They sit fourth in the Atlantic division with a record of 20-14-1-3.

The Rocket also obtained forward Michael Stinziani (89-05-11) from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in return for a fourth round pick in 2010. Chicoutimi has been one of the biggest sellers this season as they traded star Nicholas Deschamps to the Moncton Wildcats last week.

The former Cape Breton Screaming Eagle has five goals in only 19 games played this season with the Sags.

Be sure to listen to tonight’s game scratches and lineup notes at Harbour Station following warm-up.
