According to Vincent Gauthier’s Twitter page, Derek Famulare (injured) and Marshal Worden (suspended) were out of the Titan lineup.
THE STREAK
Saint John has now won 22 straight games which is good for a tie for third place all-time in the QMJHL and CHL record books. The Sea Dogs are tied with the 1967-68 Estevan Bruins for third in history.
If you wondering, 22 is the atomic number for titanium.
QUICK START
At 1:59 of the first period it was already 3-0 Sea Dogs. Nicholas Petersen, Michael Kirkpatrick and Mike Thomas all scored to give the Dogs an instant lead. The three goals chased Nicholas Champion from the goal.
SWITCHING IT UP
Champion would return in the third period. Guillaume Nadeau replaced him at 1:59 of the first period. He allowed two goals on 24 shots. Champion returned to allow one more goal.
WILD ENDING
Nicholas Pard and Jonathan Lessard got into some rough stuff at the end of the game. Pard and Lessard got into a fist battle after the horn and one may have accidently hit a linesman as he tried to break it up. Here is what the box score reads:
SNB - Nicholas Pard (20:00)(maj.), SNB - Nicholas Pard (20:00)(misc.), SNB - Nicholas Pard (20:00)(g.misc.), BAT - Jonathan Lessard (20:00)(maj.), BAT - Jonathan Lessard (20:00)(misc.), BAT - Jonathan Lessard (20:00)(g.misc.)
CANADIAN PRESS RECAP
Sea Dogs 6, Titan 4: At Bathurst, N.B., North Sydney’s Michael Kirkpatrick fired a hat trick to help Saint John win its 22nd game in a row. The QMJHL record is 25 straight wins, set in 1973-74 by the Sorel Eperviers.
QUICK HITS
Eric Faille recorded a point for the fifteenth straight game… this was the Titan’s last home game before the holiday break… Kirkpatrick’s hat trick was the third of his career. He had a chance to score on the empty net in the third period but could not connect. The goal would have been a Sea Dogs record for most goals in a game by a player… affiliate player Andrew Langan had two goals last night as he and the Woodstock Slammers defeated the Miramichi Timberwolves 6-1.
