Game Day 38: vs Voltigeurs

SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to make it three wins in three days this afternoon at TD Station.

The Sea Dogs defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 3-2 on Friday and the Victoriaville Tigres 6-3 last night. This afternoon they'll face the Drummondville Voltigeurs at 3 p.m., a team that is also finishing up a three-in-three.

The Volts fell 5-2 in Bathurst on Friday and then blew a three-goal third period lead last night in Moncton, losing 6-5 in a shootout. They'll likely be an angry team this afternoon.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 21-13-0-3 for 45 points (second Maritimes/third Eastern/sixth QMJHL) while the Voltigeurs are 15-13-5-3 for 38 points (third Central/fourth Western/11th QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 6-3 home win over the Victoriaville Tigres last night. William Dufour scored a pair of goals while singles came from Vincent Sevigny, Ryan Francis, Josh Lawrence and Raivis Ansons. Thomas Couture made 23 saves in the win. The Voltigeurs are coming off a 6-5 shootout loss in Moncton last night. Alexis Morin, Simon Hughes, Sam Oliver, Justin Cote and Julien Rod scored for Drummondville. Riley Mercer made 30 saves in the loss.

2021-22 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 0-1-0-0 against the Voltigeurs this season while Drummondville is 1-0-0-0 against Saint John.

Last meeting: Nov. 6 in Drummondville where the Volts edged the Dogs 4-3. Jacob Dion, Simon Hughes, Tristan Roy and Jeremy Lapointe scored for Drummondville. Saint John goals came from Brady Burns (two) and Evgeny Sapelnikov. Francesco Lapenna made 27 stops in the win. Jonathan Lemieux was pulled after allowing two goals on seven shots. Noah Patenaude allowed two goals on 24 shots in relief.

Voltigeur to watch: Tyler Peddle, the second overall pick in last summer's QMJHL Entry Draft, sits seventh in rookie scoring with 21 points. He sits in a tie for the rookie lead in goals with 13.

Random stat: Former Voltigeurs forward William Dufour enters play today as the league leader in goals (30) and tied for the league lead in points (61).
