MONCTON - After struggling to produce offense over the past three games, the Saint John Sea Dogs had little trouble scoring on Sunday at the Avenir Centre.
William Dufour netted a career high four goals in the Sea Dogs' 8-1 victory over the Moncton Wildcats. Saint John dominated the game throughout with Moncton's lone goal coming on a five-on-three power play in the third period.
The Wildcats, who had a COVID-19 outbreak within their team this past week, were missing a few regulars. Moncton recorded just 10 shots in the first two periods combined. Their lone goal came from Vincent Labelle.
Jonathan Lemieux, facing his old team for the first time, allowed eight goals on 51 shots.
Cam MacDonald, Vincent Sevigny, Jeremie Poirier and Raivis Ansons also scored for Saint John. Philippe Daoust, facing his old team for the first time as well, had three helpers.
Former Wildcat Thomas Couture earned the win in net, making 19 stops.
The victory ended a three-game losing streak for Saint John, a skid that saw them score a total of five goals. The team will hope this win pushes them in the right direction moving forward.

FAMILIAR FACES: Saint John's Philippe Daoust and Thomas Couture both faced their former club for the first time as did Moncton's Jonathan Lemieux. Daoust put up three assists; Couture 19 saves; and Lemieux 43 stops.
FIRST WIN: This was Saint John's first win of the season over the Wildcats after dropping the first two. The two teams will meet six more times in the regular season.
CAREER HIGH: William Dufour set a career high for goals in a game with four. His previous high was three, which he had accomplished twice. Dufour also ties the Sea Dogs franchise record for goals in a single game. This was his eighth multi-goal game of the season.
NOTES: Saint John Vito's goaltender Alex Myatt backed up Thomas Couture for a second straight game with Nikolas Hurtubise out with an injury... Connor Trenholm moved up to the second line from the fourth line, bumping down Raivis Ansons and Peter Reynolds... there were only three penalties called in the entire game... Saint John went 1-for-2 on the power play but Cam MacDonald's goal came on a delayed penalty... Brady Burns, William Villeneuve and Riley Bezeau all had three assists... Dufour had nine shots while MacDonald had seven... the announced attendance was 3,348 but the actual attendance had to be far lower than that.
