SAINT JOHN - Jacob Goobie made 45 saves to lead the Drummondville Voltigeurs to a 2-1 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs on Sunday at TD Station.
Luke Woodworth scored the game-winner with just 1:55 remaining in the third period. Jacob Dion scored Drummondville's other goal.
The Sea Dogs dominated much of the game, outshooting the Voltigeurs 46-19. Despite all the shots, the Volts did a good job at limiting quality chances, whether it be through blocking shots or boxing the Dogs out of danger areas.
Brady Burns scored Saint John's lone goal in the frustrating loss. Nikolas Hurtubise made 17 stops in net.
The Sea Dogs had a bit of a sloppy first period and couldn't get a whole lot going. The Volts scored on a five-on-three power play at 11:24 to give them a 1-0 lead after one.

Saint John looked better in the second period, dominating some stretches of play and outshooting Drummondville 17-2. The team probably could have had more shots on net if not for the Volts doing a good job at clogging up the slot area, blocking clean shooting leans. Burns' 16th goal of the season at 2:34, which came on a power play, sent the contest to the third period tied at 1-1.
Raivis Ansons had a great chance in front of the net just over four minutes into the third period but his backhand shot was stopped by Goobie. A little later on, a streaking Cam MacDonald redirected a shot that was gobbled up by the Volts netminder.
Despite Saint John controlling play for most of the third (shots were 16-8 in favour of the Dogs), it would be Drummondville scoring the period's lone goal. With 1:55 remaining, Woodworth ripped a shot from the circle that beat Hurtubise upstairs, making it a 2-1 final.

SAME: The Sea Dogs went with the same lineup they used for Saturday's game against Victoriaville. The one difference being Nikolas Hurtubise getting the start over Thomas Couture. Hurtubise is now 0-4 against the Voltigeurs this season.
STREAKS: Josh Lawrence extended his home streak to 13 games with an assist on Brady Burns' second period goal. Ryan Francis' nine-game home assist streak came to an end as did William Dufour's five-game home goal scoring streak.
HUGHES: Former Sea Dogs forward Simon Hughes made his first visit back to TD Station. After scoring against Saint John when the two teams met in Drummondville earlier this season, Hughes was held off the score sheet and registered two shots.
3-IN-3: This was the final game of a three-in-three stretch for both clubs. The Volts went 1-1-0-1 while the Sea Dogs went 2-1-0-0.
SHOTS: The Sea Dogs had 35 or more shots in all three games they played this weekend, including 40+ in the past two. The most shots the Sea Dogs have had in a game this season is 48.
GOOBIE: Jacob Goobie's 45 saves was a career high. He entered the game with already solid numbers against Saint John this season, appearing in three meetings when he was still with the Charlottetown Islanders (2-1 record; 2.00 GAA; and .922 SV%).
NOTES: Brady Burns' goal was his first point since Feb. 8... the Sea Dogs gave a shoutout to Stanislav Galiev, who won a silver medal with the Russian Olympic Committee in Beijing on Sunday morning, during the second period... William Dufour had eight shots... Nico Laforge, Jacob Chantler and Olivier Picard were the only Sea Dogs without shots on goal... quite a few Voltigeurs fans in attendance with so many Maritimers on the team's roster... this was Saint John's final home game until March 5... attendance was 2,497.
