Michael Hawkins/Saint John Sea Dogs |
The Sea Dogs and Titan will meet for the first time since both squads loaded up during the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trading period. Note that this is a 4 p.m. puck drop at the KC Irving Regional Centre.
The Titan, like the Sea Dogs, had their ups and downs in the first half of the season. But the team has had a strong showing lately, winning six of their seven games since the restart. Their lone loss came in overtime to the league-leading Charlottetown Islanders - a team they managed to beat in overtime this past Monday.
Bathurst added to their already solid offense during the trade period, acquiring Felix Lafrance - who sits in a tie with Saint John's William Dufour for second in league scoring - and Miguel Tourigny - who leads all QMJHL defensemen in scoring.
The Titan have been battling some injuries/illness of late and it appears they'll be missing some regulars again on Saturday.
The Titan have recalled forwards Philippe Collette and Cole Young for tomorrow's game.

After a good start to the second half, Saint John has lost three of their past five games. That includes a 6-2 loss in Halifax on Thursday, a loss where the team came out flat and often looked sloppy. The Sea Dogs trailed 3-0 less than 10 minutes into Thursday's contest and they'll certainly look to have a much better start on Saturday.
In terms of their opponents, Saint John has had a fairly "easy" schedule since play resumed a few weeks ago. Saturday will be the first time their revamped lineup faces a team that has the potential to win the President Cup. It will be interesting to see what kind of showing the Sea Dogs have especially given their play the last few games.
Saint John went 2-2-0-1 against Bathurst in the first half.
On Sunday the Sea Dogs are scheduled to play the Moncton Wildcats at 4 p.m. at the Avenir Centre. That game is in some doubt though, reports the Times & Transcript (paywall), due to a COVID-19 outbreak amongst some Wildcats players and staff. The team was supposed to play Friday against the Titan but that game was postponed.
