Welcome to the Olympic Games Alex Grant.

The original Saint John Sea Dog scored Canada's first goal of Beijing 2022 just 4:43 into the first period, helping the team defeat Germany 5-1. The goal came after Eric O'Dell absolutely rocked Germany's Marco Nowak behind the goal line.
Grant, still wearing No. 20 after all these years, had two shots in 13:32 of ice time.

Canada faces the United States early Saturday morning at 12:10 a.m. Their last preliminary round game is Sunday morning at 9:10 a.m. against China.

Two other Sea Dogs alumni have played in Beijing. Tomas Jurco, playing on a line with former Moncton Wildcat Marek Hrivik, had five shots in 15:58 of ice time in Slovakia's 6-2 loss to Finland. Stanislav Galiev, meanwhile, played in Russia's 1-0 win over Switzerland where he had one shot in 11:57 of ice time.
