There was a scary moment at last night’s
Lake Erie Monsters and Toronto Marlies game when former Sea Dogs forward Brett
Galllant collapsed on the bench during the second period.
After being attended to by medial staff
on the Monsters’ bench, Gallant was taken off on a stretcher. Sportsnet has some video of the incident.
The Hockey News provided an update last night from Monsters head coach Jared Bednar:
“All indications are that he’s fine,” Bednar told THN’s Ryan Kennedy. “When he left here, he was up talking and walking around. They were going to take him to the hospital to run some tests and make sure nothing more serious was going on. We haven’t heard anything more than he’s doing fine.”
Gallant, 27, has one assist and 151
penalty minutes in 48 games with AHL Lake Erie this season. The Summerside
native has 11 fights, according to HockeyFights.com.
Gallant spent parts of three seasons with the Sea Dogs between the expansion 2005-06 campaign and 2007-08.
