The Woodstock Slammers will play for the RBC Cup.
The Slammers defeated the Humboldt Broncos 4-3 in
overtime in Saturday’s semifinal to advance to the national final. Woodstock
will play the Penticton Vees in tonight’s 8:30pm contest. The game can be seen
live on TSN2.
According to the Slammers website, “the victory makes the
Slammers the first team from the Maritime Hockey League to reach the final since
the Halifax Oland Exports won the national title in 2002, and the second East
Region team in a row to play on the final Sunday – the Pembroke Lumber Kings
were RBC Cup champions last year.”
Former Sea Dogs Andrew Langan, prospect Mackenzie Brown
and training camp attendee Philip Fife are all on the Slammers roster.
In St. John’s last night, the IceCaps ended the
