The Saint John Sea Dogs will open the 2012-13 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League regular season against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Thursday,
September 20 at Harbour Station. It will be the league’s first game of the
season.
As the league announced earlier this year, the 2012-13
campaign will start a few weeks later than past seasons. The Sea Dogs opened
the 2011-12 season on September 8.
Following the September 20 game, the Sea Dogs will then travel to Bathurst to play the
Titan the following day. They’ll return home to play the Moncton Wildcats on
Wednesday, September 26.
Nathan MacKinnon and the Halifax Mooseheads make their
first Harbour Station appearance of the year on Friday, October 5.
The Sea Dogs’ first Quebec road swing will be in
mid-October when they play in Quebec City, Chicoutimi, and Baie-Comeau over a
four day span.
The annual Moncton-Saint John New Year’s Eve game will
played at Harbour Station this year. It will be a 7pm start.
The expansion Sherbrooke Phoenix will play their first
game on September 21 against the Rimouski Oceanic. The Sea Dogs will make their first trip to
Sherbrooke on November 9. The Phoenix will be in Saint John on January 26.
The Sea Dogs’ final home game of the regular season will
be on Friday, March 8 against Bathurst. Their final game of the regular season
will be on Sunday, March 17 in Charlottetown.
“No fewer than 82% of the games will be presented from
Thursday to Sunday, which will free up our players to concentrate on their
studies during the rest of the week,” said Commissioner Gilles Courteau in a release.
