SERIES: Saint John now leads the best-of-seven President's Cup final 3-0.
MISSING IN ACTION: Scratches for Saint John were
forwards Oliver Cooper (healthy), Grant West (healthy), Dylan McGuigan
(healthy) and defensemen Spencer MacDonald (healthy) and Jordan Moore
(healthy). Goaltender Richard Tingley has also joined the club but was
scratched.
WELCOME BACK: Jonathan Huberdeau returned to the Sea Dogs
lineup on Wednesday night after missing the first two games of the series with a
suspension. He picked up one point, assisting on Danick Gauthier’s second period
goal. He was also a -1 with two shots and one hit.
PENALTIES: There were plenty of penalties in the first
period of this one. It was quite rare to see any five-on-five play. There were
10 penalties called in the first with Saint John earning six of them. They were
calling everything.
There was only one penalty called in the second period
before six were called in the third. Rimouski finished with seven power plays
while Saint John had three.
"Our penalty killing was the difference
tonight," Sea Dogs head coach Gerard Gallant told The Canadian Press.
"It was a big test and we did a great job. We found a way to win without
playing our best game, but we knew it was going to be tough tonight."
FIRST GOAL: Charles Roussel opened the scoring at 8:53 of
the first. The Sea Dogs are now a perfect 12-0 in the playoffs when scoring
first.

GAUTHIER: Danick Gauthier had a big night, recording two
goals and earning first star honours. He also had three shots and two hits.
Gauthier now has 12 goals this post-season, giving him 59 in the regular season
and playoffs combined.
Scoring in Game 3 of the President’s Cup final is nothing
new for Gauthier. He also scored in Game 3 of the 2010 final versus Moncton and
Game 3 of last year’s final against Gatineau.
CHOUINARD: Rimouski netminder Jacob Gervais-Chouinard was pulled in the
third period after allowing five goals on 20 shots. Carl Hozjan allowed one
goal on four shots in relief.
Chouinard’s playoff numbers aren’t anything to brag
about. He’s 10-5-1 but has a 3.17 goals against average and a 0.887 save
percentage.
STRAKA: Petr Straka is having a good series offensively.
With a goal last night, he now has three in the President’s Cup final. He had
two markers in Saturday’s game at Harbour Station. Straka has 10 goals and 12
assists in 20 playoff games.
TWO POINTS: Stephen MacAulay, Tomas Jurco, and Stanislav
Galiev all had a goal and an assist.
JGL: Buffalo Sabres defensive prospect Jerome
Gauthier-Leduc had a goal, an assist, and a team high five shots but finished
the night a -4.
CORBEIL: From Roszell’s blog:
Mathieu Corbeil picked up his 15th win of the post-season, and set a new team record for wins in a playoff year in the process. Marco Cousineau set the previous mark of 14 in 2010.
NOTES: Tomas Jurco had a Sea Dogs high four shots…
Charlie Coyle led the Sea Dogs in hits with three… Alexandre Mallet and Samuel
Morin both had four hits for Rimouski… Charlie Coyle now has 33 points in the
playoffs… with an assist, Zack Phillips now has 30 points this post-season.
That includes 22 assists… Maxime Villemaire picked up six minutes in penalties…
the Sea Dogs were outshot 27-24… despite recording just 24 shots, only five Sea
Dogs didn’t record a shot… Sea Dogs now have 95 goals in 16 playoff games…
Saint John is now 10-0 when leading after two periods in the playoffs.

OUT OF TOWN: London beat the Niagara IceDogs 4-1 in Game
4 of the OHL Championship Series last night and now lead that series 3-1. Game 5 is tomorrow
night on Sportsnet.
