DAME-MALKA SUSPENDED FOR CROSS-CHECK

Acadie-Bathurst Titan defenseman Olivier Dame-Malka has been suspended for four games by the QMJHL. The incident occurred when he cross-checked Sea Dogs forward Stanislav Galiev on Sunday.

He viciously attacked the Russian in front of the Titan goal at 14:46 of the third period. He was thrown out of the game and the Sea Dogs were given a five minute power play which Simon Despres scored on 10 seconds later.

Galiev stayed face down on the ice for several minutes with Saint John athletic therapist Jeff Kelly. He didn't go to the dressing room or even miss a shift following the stick work.

The decision was rendered after reviewing the videotape of the incident and after consulting all concerned parties. You can see the cross-check at the 4:54 mark of THIS video.

In accordance with the QMJHL policy in the matter of disciplinary sanctions, the Disciplinary Prefect will not be available for further comment.
