PRE-GAME: Saint John Sea Dogs vs Cape Breton Screaming Eagles

Game Day
Saint John Sea Dogs vs Cape Breton Screaming Eagles

Tonight, October 10, 2009 at 7:00 pm
Centre 200, Sydney, NS

Visiting Team: Saint John Sea Dogs
Record: 6-3-1-0 (Tied 1st in Atlantic Division)
Last Game: 5-3 Win @ Victoriaville on Sunday
Leading Scorer: Steven Anthony: 10-6-4-10
Notes: Mike Hoffman will not play because of a hairline fracture in his left foot… Mike Thomas is serving the sixth and final game of his suspension and should play Sunday against the Eagles… forward Nicholas Petersen has only played in two games with the Sea Dogs since returning from Pittsburgh Penguins training camp. He has six points (three goals, two assists) in those two games… Karel St-Laurent is expected to start in goal… this will be the Sea Dogs first game without Alexandre Leduc this season. He was traded to Gatineau for a 2011 third rounder earlier this week… Saint John is 2-0-0-0 against the Eagles this season. They won 4-3 in Sydney and 5-4 in Saint John… the Dogs are playing the fourth game of six straight road games.

Home Team: Cape Breton Screaming Eagles
Record: 5-2-1-1 (Tied 3rd in Atlantic Division)
Last Game: 3-1 Win vs Rouyn-Noranda on Wednesday
Leading Scorer: Luke Adam: 7-4-7-11
Notes: The Eagles have four NHL draft picks: Olivier Roy (Edmonton), Mathieu Brodeur (Phoenix), Luke Adam (Buffalo), and Ashton Bernard (New Jersey)… star goaltender Olivier Roy is a strong contender to make the Canadian national junior team… Roy has struggled since returning from Oilers training camp. He has a 3.56 GAA and a 0.885% save percentage in seven games this season. He recently switched back to his old equipment.… he was in net for the overtime loss to Saint John at Harbour Station on September 19… Eagles center Taylor MacDougall is UNB head coach Gardiner MacDougall’s son… Michael Ward is the lone New Brunswick native on the Eagles roster… Roy is tied with Martin Houle for the most wins as an Eagle with 65 and can break the record today.
