The two join Michael Kirkpatrick and Yann Sauve as alternates while Mike Thomas will where the 'C'.
Hoffman and Petersen bring a lot of experience to the dressing room. Both were also passed over in the NHL draft before being selected this past summer.
Hoffman has played two plus years in the QMJHL with Gatineau, Drummondville, and currently Saint John. He has played in 128 career games after being passed over in the OHL. He helped the Volts advance to the Memorial Cup last season and played in both games of the ADT Canada/Russia Challenge.
Petersen has also played in two plus seasons with Shawinigan and now the Sea Dogs. He also played in one game of the ADT Canada/Russia challenge.
