Game Day 55: at Charlottetown

CHARLOTTETOWN - The Saint John Sea Dogs will look to rebound from a rough loss against the Charlottetown Islanders tonight.

The Sea Dogs dressed eight 16-year-olds in a 10-2 blowout loss to the Halifax Mooseheads last night at Scotiabank Centre. Saint John can quickly forgot about that game though with a matchup this evening against the Islanders at Eastlink Centre.

Game time is 7 p.m.

Records: The Sea Dogs are 12-38-2-2 for 28 points (fifth Maritimes, ninth Eastern, 17th QMJHL) while the Islanders are 29-17-3-3 for 64 points (fourth Maritimes, fifth Eastern, eighth QMJHL).

Last games: The Sea Dogs are coming off a 10-2 loss in Halifax last night. Charlie DesRoches and Maxim Cajkovic scored for Saint John. Zachary Bouthillier was pulled after allowing six goals on 21 shots. Mikhail Denisov was pulled after allowing two goals on 28 shots in relief. The Islanders haven't played since suffering a 6-5 overtime loss in Saint John on Saturday. Hunter Drew scored two goals for Charlottetown while singles came from Thomas Casey, Jordan Maher and Liam Peyton. Isaak Pelletier allowed six goals on 25 shots in the loss.

2018-19 head-to-head: The Sea Dogs are 2-4-0-1 against the Islanders this season while Charlottetown is 5-1-1-0 against Saint John this year.

Last meeting: This past Saturday at Harbour Station where the Sea Dogs edged the Islanders 6-5 in overtime. Nicholas Deakin-Poot had a hat trick while singles came from Maxim Cajkovic, Jeremie Poirier and Filip Prikryl. Hunter Drew scored two goals for Charlottetown while singles came from Thomas Casey, Jordan Maher and Liam Peyton. Zachary Bouthillier made 35 stops in the win. Isaak Pelletier allowed six goals on 25 shots in the loss.

Ex-Islanders on the Sea Dogs: Forwards Daniel Hardie and Kevin Gursoy.

Islander to watch: Former Sea Dog Kevin Gursoy had two assists in Saturday's loss at Harbour Station. He has four goals and nine assists in seven games against his former club this season.

Random stat: Maxim Cajkovic is now third in QMJHL rookie goal scoring with 17.

Notes: Maxim Cajkovic leads the Sea Dogs in scoring with 37 points and goals with 20... Benjamin Gagne leads the Dogs in assists with 22... Daniel Hardie leads the Islanders in goals (31), assists (30) and points (61)... Saint John is 4-20-0-2 on the road... Charlottetown is 17-6-1-3 at home... the Islanders have lost four straight games... Saint John has lost seven straight road games.
