FINAL: Moncton 8, Saint John 1
SAINT JOHN - For a sixth straight game, the Saint John Sea Dogs gave up five or more goals in a game.
The latest came on Friday night at Harbour Station where the Moncton Wildcats cruised to an 8-1 win over the Sea Dogs. It was Saint John's fourth straight loss - a streak that has seen them outscored by a brutal 29-6 margin.
The Wildcats had little trouble with the Sea Dogs, scoring twice on the power play and once shorthanded. Mikhail Denisov was left in for all eight goals, making 27 stops in the loss. Zachary Bouthillier made seven stops in relief.
Saint John was once again younger than usual, dressing seven 16-year-olds in the loss - which included call-ups Alexis Belisle and Alexandre O'Neill.
Filip Prikryl scored Saint John's lone goal.
Moncton had two goals from Jakob Pelletier and singles from Gabriel Sylvestre, Alexander Khovanov, Jeremy McKenna, Dylan Seitz, Brady Pataki and Mika Cyr. Francis Leclerc made 23 stops in the win.
LINEUP
SCRATCHES: The Sea Dogs were without forwards Christian Clark, Robbie Burt, Yohan Plamondon, Aiden MacIntsoh and Jeremie Jacob. The team announced before the game that Burt has returned home for the remainder of the season.
NOTES: Moncton's Jakob Pelletier has scored five goals in his past three games... Jeremy McKenna and Alexander Khovanov extended their road point streaks to six games... the Wildcats had 21 shots in the first period. Saint John had 24 shots in the entire game... Sea Dogs head coach Josh Dixon is still away from the team due to a death in his family. Jeff Cowan acted as head coach for a third straight game... Saint John dressed seven defensemen plus had d-man Carson Gallant playing as a forward... the President and Memorials Cups were in the building as part of the league's 50th anniversary tour.
