FINAL: Saint John 3, Cape Breton 10
SYDNEY, NS - Isiah Campbell burned his former team on Thursday night at Centre 200.
The forward set a career high for goals and points in a game, netting an impressive four goals and two assists, to lead the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles to a 10-3 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs.
Campbell had two goals and three assists in four games against his old club last season. In five games this year, the 18-year old has five goals and two helpers.
Shaun Miller scored twice for the Eagles while singles came from Egor Sokolov, Gabriel Proulx, Mitchell Balmas and ex-Dog Nathan Larose. Kevin Mandolese made 17 saves in the win.
Saint John was heavily outshot once again. Shots ended 48-20 in favour of Cape Breton - and were 21-5 in the second period alone. For the most part, Saint John has had the perfect storm of problems lately - they can't score and they can't keep the puck out of their own net. Saint John has allowed six or more goals in six of their past eight games.
Lost in this loss will be Maxim Cajkovic scoring his first career QMJHL hat trick, giving him 20 goals on the season - which places him third amongst QMJHL rookies.

Cajkovic opened the scoring at 3:19 of the first period when he broke in alone and beat Mandolese with a quick wrist shot. The goal came on Saint John's first shot of the game.
Cape Breton tied the game at 14:24 when a high shot by Sokolov went off Bouthillier, up in the air and eventually across the line to make it 1-1. Then at 15:32, Proulx scored to give the Screaming Eagles a 2-1 lead.
The Sea Dogs quickly tied the game. At 16:09, Cajkovic wired a shot past Mandolese for his second of the period.
Campbell scored on a scramble at 8:03 of the second period to put the Eagles back in front. The at 14:24, Miller scored to make it a 4-2 contest.
With 3:00 left in the middle frame, Campbell continued to burn his former team, ripping a shot past Bouthillier to put Cape Breton ahead 5-2.
The Eagles exploded for five goals in the third period. Campbell completed his hat trick just 24 seconds into the period and then Miller netted his second of the night - this one shorthanded - at 7:14 to make it 7-2.
Cajkovic completed his hat trick at 12:50 - but any momentum from the goal was short lived. Balmas scored at 14:08, Campbell at 16:01 and Larose at 19:11 to make it a 10-3 final.
