INTERMISSION TURNS SCARY

First intermission turned scary on Sunday at Harbour Station as the Saint John Sea Dogs defeated the Moncton Wildcats 4-3 in a shootout.

Sea Dogs mascot Fleaburn has been playing with a ATV on the ice during intermissions for the past few games. Spinning in circles and waving to fans has been a welcomed addition to usually lack luster 18 minute period.

Things took a turn for the worst on Sunday as Fleaburn hit an on ice worker with the off road automobile.

The young lady was taking the spokes out of the ice that hold the net in place in the east end of Harbour Station. As she was bent down on one knee, Fleaburn came spinning around the corner and hit the women. She was pushed for one end of the trapezoid behind the net to another by the wheels of the ATV.

Several shrieks came from the few hundred fans who were still in their seats. The arena went dead silent as she lay motionless for a few moments.

It was visible that Fleaburn was asking if she was okay for several minutes. She would be okay and laughed about the incident after. Fleaburn on the other hand, left the ice very upset following the drama and was not seen in the second period. He returned the following intermission.

Nobody is to blame for the incident. The on ice worker was not paying any attention to the mascot. Fleaburn was waving to the crowd in a costume that has to be difficult to see out of.

The future of the ATV during intermissions is unknown.
