MAYER SENT TO HAMILTON

Former Saint John Sea Dogs goaltender Robert Mayer has been sent to the American Hockey League's Hamilton Bulldogs. The Montreal Canadiens shipped the Swiss native to Hamilton yesterday.

Mayer was signed by the Canadiens last season as a free agent after being passed over in the 2008 NHL draft.

In 65 games last season, he had a record of 26-25 with a 3.25 goals against average and two shutouts. He holds the Sea Dogs record for most shutouts in one season and in a career. He also has one shutout in pre-season action.

The Swiss native played for Switzerland in the 2008 World Junior Hockey Championship and played in the 2008 Home Hardware Top Prospects Game.

He'll join Edmundston native and former Rimouski Oceanic/Quebec Remparts goaltender Cedric Desjardins on the Bulldogs.
