PREVIEW
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs and Halifax
Mooseheads meet for a pivotal Game 3 tonight at Harbour Station.
The Mooseheads currently lead the best-of-seven first
round Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff series 2-0 heading into this
evening’s contest. A victory by Halifax tonight would give them a stranglehold on
the series heading into tomorrow night’s Game 4.
Halifax dominated Game 1 on Friday night at the Metro
Centre, winning 11-1. But on Saturday, although the Mooseheads outshot the Sea
Dogs by a wide margin, they squeaked out a 2-1 win thanks to a third period
goal by Matthew Boudreau.
Obviously, despite the shots, Saint John played a much
better game on Saturday and were led by the outstanding play of goaltender
Sebastien Auger. Tonight, the Sea Dogs will look to keep some of the momentum
going that was gained from Saturday’s match.
One of the things Saint John did well on Saturday was
stay out of the box. That’s something they’ll need to do again if they want to
contain Halifax’s offense.
The Sea Dogs were 13-21-0-0 at home this season and are 4-9-0-0 at Harbour Station since the trade deadline.
